Colored Sands [poem]

they threw “colored” like a stone

but we caught it, turned it into gold
amber suns, copper skies,
bronze roots deep as the tide

underfoot, jewels in the sand
passed down hand to hand
salt, sun, and time turning
into wisdom you can hold

we walk away with pockets heavy
nuggets of truth,
pieces of forever
our name written bold
in colored sand
