Highland Beach Script Hoodie

the bold script hand lettering in this design reflects the timeless spirit of Highland Beach; a statement of legacy and self-determination.

after getting turned away from a whites-only resort on the Chesapeake in 1893, Charles Douglass (yes, Frederick Douglass's son) bought up his own stretch of shoreline near Annapolis, and it became a summer spot for Black DC's finest, with Frederick himself building a house there. this one's for the beach that got incorporated as Maryland's first Black-governed town in 1922, and it's still running things on its own terms today.
