Water Logs is a quarterly science fiction ezine from paperxpencil® Creative Design Lab, built on the belief that speculative futures are inseparable from the histories that produced them. Every issue collects three short stories arranged as a single thesis: origin, rupture, reclamation, where Black coastal memory, cultural memory, and diaspora history aren't backdrop. They're the machinery the fiction runs on.

Volume 1 spans four issues. New issues arrive every quarter.

ISSUE 3

SAND DOLLARS

The debts our people never agreed to, collected one name at a time. Each job closes the same way: the account settled, and a letter to the daughter he left without a father.

DOUBLE BEAMS

A simple rehab. then the mission, and the price nobody quoted, paid in something worth more than blood.

THE HIGGS EFFECT

A parking lot. A volleyball court. A wedding lawn. under all of it, the dead are done being patient.
